Should edema be expected after any surgical procedure? Why does excess fluid accumulate in damaged tissues? Surgery, joints, age, gender, weight – when is edema more severe? Are some people more prone to it than others? What makes edema worse? Maybe it's worth drinking very little fluid? What else helps reduce edema? Medication? If edema persists for several months, can it become chronic? Why are traumatologists and orthopedists not overly concerned about edema, and what are the signs that it is not good?
All this in this conversation with Andrejs Peredistijs, traumatologist and orthopedist at ORTO Clinic.
